The Great Gilly Hopkins!

What kind of books do you like? Do you like action, adventure, drama, romance........ The Great Gilly Hopkins is a new berry honor book. I would say its a dramatic book than anything else. I tried to read the book a long time ago and I never got in to it. This week I saw it on the self and I picked it up and this time around I really liked it. Threw out the whole book I keep thinking don't do it Gilly! I recommend this book, it made me cry a one part near the end, that's how good it was.
The book follows a girl named Gabriella Hopkins who moves from one foster home to another. When she was little she had a very sweet lady that was her foster parent Gabriella loved her until the lady moved and left her behind. Ever since then Gabriella has made sure to cause as much trouble as possible and to make sure she never loves anyone but her real mother. She moves from town to town from foster parent to foster parent until she gets to a lady named Mrs. Trotter. Trotter as Gilly calls her is desperate to make things work out for Gilly, and Gilly is desperate to see her real mother Courtney. Gilly gets a letter from her mother and decides to arrange by herself a trip to see her mother, but what Gilly does not get is that her mother does not want her. Trotter also has a foster boy named William Ernest that Gilly comes to like, she calls him W.E., she liked to scare the boy until the end where she realizes he is not as dumb as she thought he was. Gilly is followed around by a girl that lives with her grandma because her mother and father left her, Gilly tries to act as nice as possible to Agnes Strokes because she knows she will need her later. Trotters has Gilly go and get the neighbor for dinner, he is a blind old man that Trotter feeds ever night. Gilly is worried about staying any longer, she writes a letter to her mother telling her that she would come soon. She is asked to read a book to Trotter and the neighbor Mr. Randolph, since they both can read. She goes to Mr. Randolph's house to pick a book and while in his house she finds a book with money behind it, before she could check for more she hears Trotter coming and calling for her. She stuffs the money that she has in her pocket. That night she comes up with a plan to get home to her mother. The plan involves Agnes Strokes, and W.E., she succeeds with the plan. She fails when she gets to the train station and is sent home to a unhappy Trotter. Her mother gets a letter and Courtney sends her mother to get Gilly. Gilly is mad that she has to go, she realizes that she loves this home. Its to late thought, Gilly's grandma comes to get her and they leave for home, her grandma tells her that she did not even know that she had a granddaughter. Gilly is unhappy and she wished she never wrote the letter to her mother. Gilly gets news that her mother is coming, Gilly thinks that her mother is coming to get her and bring her lovely daughter home! Does it work out or not? Does Gilly go with her mother? Does her mother even love her like she said in the letter?
The Great Gilly Hopkins is a wonderful book, you should read it!

Inspired By My Friend Nadia!

Nadia is my friend and this post was inspired by her! Nadia recently did a blog post that involving tongue twisters, so I wanted to write some that I came up with or my brothers or sisters came up with. Some are weird and some are really hard to say. Others are really easy to say because we have said it so many times.
The first one that I am going to blog about use to be hard to say, but now that I am use to saying it. Here is the story, we got a peanut butter jar from the store, the jar was advertising Peter Pan on it. This is what the peanut butter jar said: "Peter Pan Peanut Butter," try saying that five times fast!
This one I made up when I blogged about mushroom kitchens. I was writing the label for the mushroom post and I came up with this: "Mushing Mushy Mushrooms." Now that is hard to say three times fast. I can't even say that!
This one I also came up with. "Mashing Mushy Mashed Potatoes!" That tongue twister is a little easier than the others. Try to say it three times fast.
So try them and make up your own, post a comment that has a tongue twister!

More And More And More Mushrooms!

Can you imagine a kitchen with brown mushrooms everywhere? Would you like a kitchen with mushrooms? I would answer the first question like this, "a mushroom kitchen, who would want brown mushrooms everywhere! That sounds weird." The second question a would say, "Why would anyone want a mushroom kitchen, and no I don't want one."

We have mushrooms growing everywhere, in our yard and in everyone's yard. We have big, brown and grey, tall and short, mushrooms everywhere. We have them outside and there not pretty, so why would you want a kitchen with mushroom wall paper? My mom said that my grandma had a mushroom kitchen, she said that it was the stile to have a mushroom kitchen! They had and have weird stiles

I Don't Look Like Her!

Have you ever been told that you look like a famous person? Maybe you were told you look like a super star or a actor/actress. I was never told that until this summer. We had one of the best life guard ever, he let us swim with out breaks every hour. He threw the football with us and he talked about music with my mom and sister. One day when we were at the pool he told me, "you remind me of someone." Before we left that day he said the I looked like Jessica Alba! In my opinion I don't look like Jessica Alba.

It was only us at the pool on day, and we had the fun lifeguard. It was the end of the hour so we had to get out of thee pool for ten minutes. Well he let us stay in the shallow end of the pool. He was walking to the table with his stuff when his boss pulled up! No one was in the lifeguard stand and we were in the water. His boss stepped out of the car at the exact moment he yelled, "I told you guys to get out of the pool!" We got out once his boss left he explained to us that his boss is strict. Then we were allowed back in the pool.

"Your Mixing Cultures!" -Burrito Boy

Does your mom ever order a pizza with stuff you don't like on it, maybe its mushrooms, or peppers, or maybe even onions! Do you just want to made your own pizza? With everything that you like! Does that sound good to you, everything you like and nothing else! Well do I have something to share with you!
For our lunch Burrito boy and I had personal pizza that we made ourselves, our mom always lets us make our personal pizzas! We usually have pittas as our crust, but today I had a tortilla as my crust. Burrito boy said it would turn out gross and he said it would be weired. Turns out he liked it a lot and he wanted more!
At first when I made it he told me "your mixing cultures," but when he took a bite he liked it. I even think it's better than pitta pizzas. It good for lunch or dinner and it's easy to make. If you want to make it then here is how you do it!
1 Set oven to 350. Put aluminum on a baking sheet.
2 Get out cheese, tomato sauce, pittas (or whatever you are using as the crust,) pepperoni, ham, pineapple, mushrooms, anything you want on your pizza.
3 Put your crust on the backing sheet. First put on the tomato sauce, then add whatever you want. NOTE: You might want to add the cheese last, it will help keep everything together, so you won't have a big mess.
4 Put your pizza in the oven for about ten to fifteen minutes, or until the cheese is melted, or until its on fire! Don't wait till it's on fire!
5 Take it out when its done, you can dip it in tomato sauce it you want. That's what Burrito boy and I do!
You should try it, its really delicious!

Carrots, Desserts, And Survival!

It's important to be healthy and also have junk food! I had a teacher once that said that her sister ate carrots all the time, that all she wanted to eat was carrots. Did you know that if you eat to many you will turn orange? Guess what she ate so many that she turned orange, my teacher said that her finger nails were orange and her skin. I thought that was weird and I wanted to try it and see if I would turn orange. I don't like carrots that much and so I never ate enough to turn orange. We need to moderate ourselves, that's what the lesson was about, that's why my teacher told us that story so we would understand that moderating ourselves is important.
That leads me to another story that involves not so healthy food.
Last night I was helping Stink bug with homework, she had to cut out pictures, while looking I found a page of a magazine with only desserts. Chocolate fudge brownie, chocolate chip and banana nut cookies, cupcake with whip cream on top and chocolate chips, blueberry and oatmeal raisin muffins! I don't know about you but all of those sound good, I cut them out and taped them to one of my books. I told Burrito boy that I could survive on all of those foods, that and milk.
Survival, that word leads me on to a story about my sisters friend, I will call her CCL (crazy cat lady). We were talking and I can't remember why we were talking about Mexico but we were. CCL said that she would be able to survive in Mexico because she can say these simple words in Spanish: bathroom, water, food. If all you had to know are those word then I guess I would be able to survive.
